FROM THE PRESIDENT
The Association of Church Musicians in Philadelphia (ACMP) thanks you for visiting our web site. ACMP is an organization for anyone who in any way ministers to God and the People of God through liturgical music. ACMP is a branch of the Archdiocesan Office for Worship and is charged with the on-going education and formation of those involved in liturgical music ministry in parishes, schools, or any other institution. ACMP is also an affiliate chapter of the National Association of Parish Musicians (NPM). Our members’ ministries vary. They might be salaried or voluntary, full time or part time. They are music directors, as well as choir directors, organists, pianists, instrumentalists of any kind. Our members also include presiders, cantors, choir members, members of contemporary ensembles, music teachers responsible for liturgy at both the elementary and high school level.
We also welcome anyone who is not actively involved in music ministry, but who wishes to keep abreast of Church teachings regarding liturgy and music. ACMP sponsors spiritual, educational, and social events throughout the year. Membership in ACMP affords the music minister several advantages; you will:
- receive our quarterly newsletter; pay reduced fees for all ACMP events;
- receive a Membership Directory full of invaluable information;
- qualify for a discount on registration for NPM national conventions.
Besides all of these, at any events you attend, you will experience the support and camaraderie of other church musicians, who, like you, believe that good liturgical music enables our assemblies to engage more deeply in the Paschal Mystery of Christ, who has died, is risen, and will come again.
