Saint Ann Parish – Phoenixville, PA - Director of Music Ministry
Saint Ann Parish Phoenixville, Pennsylvania is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Music Ministry. We are a dynamic multi-generational parish of 2,100 registered families, located in the suburbs of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The Mission Statement of the Parish is “To Grow In Grace Through Jesus Christ.”
Responsibilities include:
Providing music for weekend Masses and other major liturgical celebrations including but not limited to: Holy Days, the Triduum, Holy Family Regional School Masses, parish missions, and other sacramental celebrations. Serves as choir director and accompanist. Plays for and coordinates the music for weddings and funerals.
Objective: To help all members of Saint Ann Parish grow in grace through Jesus Christ by supporting their singing of God’s praises as they meditate upon the text of the scriptures, hymns, psalms, acclamations, and choral compositions during all Masses and services for which music is an integral part. The music must be of the highest quality so as to be spiritually inspirational.
Skills Required: Minimum of Bachelor of Arts in Music; strong keyboard skills on both piano and organ; strong choral and instrumental conducting skills; experienced vocal coach; ability to arrange and compose choral music; ability to arrange instrumental music; well versed in music theory and pedagogy, strong interpersonal skills; strong leadership ability. The ideal candidate holds a pleasant disposition, works well with others, can deal with stressful situations, and is attentive to detail. Experience with Sibelius or equivalent, Microsoft applications, Google Workspace, and Ministry Scheduler Pro is preferred. Candidate must be a practicing Catholic and have all current clearances including PA Child Abuse History Certification, PA Criminal Record Check, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
Job Summary:
Plan the music for all Sunday Masses (hymns and psalm selections based on readings for the liturgical Sunday)
Plan the music for all Holy Day liturgies throughout the year including Feasts and Solemnities and especially the music for the Triduum.
Plan and perform music for Masses with school children – usually monthly as arranged by the
Work closely with the DRE for all special liturgies, events, or masses and be available to play for them and arrange for a cantor. Plan music for other liturgies such as Confirmation, First Communion/Reconciliation, Forty Hours, or Evensong.
Continue the development of the adult choir and the expansion of their repertoire through rehearsal and vocal training. (Choir rehearses every week on Thursday and Sunday and sings every Sunday and for other special liturgies or concerts September through May.)

Establish contacts within the parish Religious Ed program, Holy Family Regional School and our surrounding schools to develop and conduct a children and youth choir. (Youth choir rehearses every week and sings once or twice a month September through May.)
Maintain and develop the cantor ministry by providing vocal coaching, musical instruction, and inspiration for them to proclaim the psalms and lead the congregation. Cantors meet every 8 to 12 weeks.
Schedule cantors for all parish liturgies. Publish a schedule of cantors and hymn selections to share with the pastor and other priests.
Assist couples in selecting appropriate music for their wedding. Must determine that all music requested for a wedding is appropriate. Hire a vocalist from among Saint Ann cantors and instrumentalists as requested to enhance the liturgy. Arrange music for the vocalist and instrumentalists. Purchase music as needed. Perform and conduct at the wedding.
Play for funeral masses and arrange for a cantor as requested. Meet with the families to assist in the selection of music and readings for the funeral Mass as needed.
Maintain professional skills through continuing education opportunities and personal
Keep abreast of current growth and learning opportunities for liturgical music in the Catholic
Maintain memberships in National Pastoral Musicians (NPM) and the Association of Church Musicians of Philadelphia.
Attend informational sessions and conventions for liturgical musicians as available (such as the NPM Convention).
Maintain a library of choral music both contemporary and

Maintain license to reprint and live stream music including reporting all such use to

St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish - West Chester, PA - Principal Organist

Director of Music Ministry - St. Patrick Parish - Kennett Square, PA
St. Patrick Church in Kennett Square, PA is a vibrant parish community comprised of 1500 families. Currently we are seeking a Full Time Director of Music Ministry (DMM) to effectively oversee, coordinate, accompany and lead the Sacred Music for the Liturgical Celebrations of our parish.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The DMM reports directly to the Pastor while working together and in alignment with our parish staff, music ministry leaders, volunteer/hired/visiting musicians and cantors, parishioners and the Archdiocese. His or Her role is to lead, coordinate and provide Sacred Music aligned with the Liturgical norms and Liturgical Celebrations for St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church. This is a full-time year-round position with a combination of flexible and mandatory hours (including weekend and evening availability) with 3 key areas of focus:
1. Lead, coordinate, conduct and manage all resources and aspects of our Parish music ministry. 2. Grow and develop our music ministry through recruiting gifted and qualified musicians, cantors and persons who have passion to serve the Lord with their talents. 3. Align our music ministry to the fullness of Church Worship, through a love and understanding of the Liturgical Norms of the Church and sharing that love and understanding with our parish.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Responsibilities of the DMM include but are not limited to the following:
1) Report to and collaborate with the Pastor in formulating and implementing the parish music program, aligned to St. Patrick Vision and Mission as well as to the Roman Catholic Church. 2) Oversee, arrange, guide and ensure music coverage for parish liturgies. This includes 4 Masses each weekend and special liturgies throughout the year. 3) Provide and set schedule of music, cantors, and accompanists for 4 weekend Masses, Holydays, and major celebrations. His/Her presence at Sunday Liturgy is expected. 4) Seeks faithful disciples from within our St. Patrick Parish Community who have musical ability and develops that ability for service. Assists existing ministers of music in their service. 5) Direct, Lead and Guide the Children and Adult Choirs of our parish, and oversee our Guitar Group. 6) Provide liturgical formation and practical preparation for all ministers of music, including regular rehearsals for cantors and choirs. 7) Consult and collaborate with pastoral team members who are directly involved in various rites and sacramental celebrations, e.g., Funerals, Weddings, OCIA, First Eucharist, Penance, and Confirmation. 8) Conducts required administrative duties, including updating and maintaining all necessary licenses and copyrights, purchasing necessary music supplies, and providing timely information needed for processing music-related expenses/payroll. 9) Maintain the music library, ensuring that all materials are organized and accessible. 10) Stay informed of current developments in liturgy and music; participate in pastoral music workshops and encourage others to do the same. 11) Work to foster unity and growth among all parish music ministers. 12) Through witness and teaching, strives to educate parishioners on the beauty of liturgical music as it relates to a fuller worship of God.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
EDUCATION:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in music, sacred music, liturgy or the equivalent is desired, but not mandatory.
EXPERIENCE:
Professional competence in organ and piano, along with vocal performance and proficiency in the reading of music
Experience and enthusiasm for offering varied Roman Catholic Music within Liturgical Traditions
Excellent Collaboration and communication Skills
Self-sufficient in the use of computer and music software and technology, as needed
Previous experience as a Music Director for a Catholic Parish or equivalent position is preferred
The ability to work professionally and collaboratively with others
Must prove or obtain prior to employment clearances required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia

Pastoral Associate for Worship & Music - Christ Our Light - Cherry Hill, NJ
The Catholic Community of Christ Our Light, Cherry Hill, NJ, seeks to fill the role of Pastoral Associate for Worship and Music. The Pastoral Associate serves as Director of the parish Music Ministries, oversees all other Liturgical Ministries with the support of a part-time Assistant and volunteer Ministry Leaders, and directs music for and assists with the preparation of Resurrection Catholic School liturgies.

Part-time position at a large, vibrant parish (6,200 families) with a well-developed music program.
Candidate must possess good accompanying skills, conducting skills, technical proficiency and sight-reading abilities in both organ, piano, and voice.
Responsibilities include:
Provide organ / piano accompaniment for all choral liturgies as well as weekly choir rehearsals (Wednesday evenings) September through June.
Provide accompaniment for all Sacramental Liturgies and Holy Days including Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter Liturgies.
Collaborate with the Director of Music for 1-2 concerts per year.
Applicant must have full understanding of the Catholic Liturgy, a good working knowledge of the instrument (3-manual Allen Renaissance Quantum Organ with MIDI), and ability to work under the Director of Music. Preludes and postludes from classical organ literature are expected and should align to the theme of the liturgy. The successful candidate knows the art of improvisation and can colorfully play hymns and responses through the artistic use of registration, hymn introductions, interludes, and alternate harmonizations.
